Can you help me identify some connections between Dante's Divine Comedy and Virgil's Aeneid?

What are some similarities between these two and why do you think they are significant? I'm definitely thinking about comparing Beatrice and Dido. Can you help me with this idea and offer some others? Thanks! Greatly appreciated.
