I'm still traumatised by Princess Beatrice's hat. Can someone help me?

The rest of the world seems to have moved on, but I am still in a state of distress caused by THAT HAT. I don't think I will ever forget the moment Beatrice stepped out of the car and confronted the world with the sight of that monstrosity. Why did she do it?
